Some of my Ceremonies

Unique Wedding Ceremonies

I will work with you to create a ceremony that is beautiful, moving and unique. Interweaving those special memories and the history that has brought you to the day on which you celebrate your union.

Baby Naming Ceremonies

A secular baby naming ceremony is a great alternative to a religious ceremony, opening up opportunities to celebrate a new life, welcome an adopted child to the family or to celebrate the creation of a new family unit when two families come together.

Funeral Ceremonies

Our family history. Hobbies. Life’s work?… Whatever it is that defines us can be woven into the ceremony making it personal and truly inspirational. I have written services for football fans, gardeners, Buddhists, and plane spotters, to name but a few.

My Approach

Everything that I write is unique, personally written with you to honour and respect your wishes and views and those of your loved ones.

Together we will work out the order of your ceremony, music, poems or readings, weaving in your special interests and hobbies if that is what you want, and any spiritual, religious or symbolic components that are important to you.

The main thing to remember is that it is your ceremony and you can choose to have it your way.

"We just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for making sure our day special and for making sure it all went to plan. The feedback from our guests was that it was a lovely ceremony and some have even said that it was the best wedding they had been too. Very different but very intimate. Finally thank you once more and be assured that we will recommend you if the opportunity arises. We will hopefully see you again and maybe this will be on someone else’s special day. Love Della and Kat xx"

Della & Kat – Wedding Testimonial

"Thank you Liz, we cannot express our deep gratitude to you. You listened to our stories of Dad through our tears. You created such a beautiful service, reflecting on our words, his personality, love for his family, warmth and his humour shone through in how you spoke of him. We laughed we cried. But mostly we felt proud that we sent him off with truth, respect, and dignity. Much love to you, from all our family."

Karen Welsh – Funeral Testimonial

"Hi Liz, everybody loved yesterday. Such a great day and very emotional! I can’t believe how vocal she (Ava) was, it was hilarious!! She is never usually that loud! I think she had a brill time though, we all did. Everyone commented on how wonderful the ceremony was and how warm and lovely you were. Can’t thank you enough. the day exceeded our expectations and we will remember if forever."

Frequently Asked Questions

We don’t want a pre written script, how can we have a ceremony that is about us?

Oh, there are so many ways… let’s face it, your relationship isn’t like anyone else’s and your ceremony should reflect your love and commitment for each other in ways that suit you.

We will work together to make it all yours, I will guide you through it and in the end the format is up to you, it doesn’t have to be a mass produced re hash, so don’t feel that you have to settle. There is nothing lovelier or more liberating than the freedom to create something beautiful, moving and all yours, so let’s do this!

Is my  wedding ceremony with you legally binding?

No. If you wish your marriage to be legally recognised you will need to register your intent to marry at the Registry Office, telling them that you have already booked your celebrant and you just need a simple service to complete your paperwork and declarations.

Book a date that suits you with your local Registry Office, you will need two witnesses on the day. At the Registry Office you have to choose one declaration each from several legal statements, these are not vows, but legally binding words.

To make it easier, think of the legal bit at the Registry Office as your marriage, then the wedding is the more personal celebration of your relationship with me where you can make more personal vows to each other, wherever you choose.

So is the exchanging of rings a legal requirement?

No, you don’t even have to exchange rings if you don’t want to.

I can discuss alternative ideas if you wish.

Do I have to hire a licensed venue?

No. Celebrant led ceremonies can be officiated anywhere, which means that you can choose a venue or place that is special to you, indoor or outdoor, at any time of the year.

Celebrants are also much more flexible around time; I don’t charge extra for evening or weekend weddings.

Does my ceremony have to be in office hours?

No. Celebrants are not restricted by times or working days which means you can celebrate your relationship in a relaxed, informal way with no time constraints. Or, it can be as formal and traditional as you want it to be, the choice really is yours.

I have carried out many afternoon and evening ceremonies as well as day time ones.

Is it expensive to book a Celebrant?

No. My prices compare very favourably to a registrar coming out to your venue, but you get so much more, and the cost won’t change depending on day, time or if it is a bank holiday.
