Funeral Ceremonies
As a Funeral Celebrant, I know the death of someone close can be one of the most painful experiences that life has to offer, and I offer my condolences to you and your family if tragic events have brought you to my website.
Support & Comfort
I will to work with you and yours to create a service which is personal and uplifting, respecting your beliefs and values and those of your loved one.
I will spend time with you, listening and talking to you to draw out the meanings and sentiments that you wish to convey.
Using your stories, anecdotes and memories to truly capture the essence of your loved one. Written sensitively and warmly, delivered respectfully and with care.
Your loved one’s funeral service will be as unique and individual as the person themselves.
If you wish me to, I will help you to think about music, poetry, readings, and the order of service, preparing it ready to be sent to the Funeral Director for printing.
If family and friends wish to be included in the ceremony I will factor this in, you may want to hold the ceremony in a venue of your choice, the possibilities are endless, it doesn’t have to be in a crematorium or church.
If I have carried out the Funeral service, I will scatter the ashes of your loved one if you wish me to with no extra charge.
Tradition with a Twist
The funeral service has a lasting impact on those present and can help you to begin your healing journey.
What is it that makes us who we are? We are all so different in life and those differences make us interesting and unique, enriching the lives of our families, friends and communities in so many ways.
Whatever it is that defines us can be woven into the service making it personal and truly inspirational, I have written services for football fans, gardeners, Buddhists, battle re-enactors, plane spotters and train enthusiasts to name but a few.
Most people want a funeral service that is personal and brings their lost loved one to the forefront of their mind’s eye, a celebration of a life well lived.
Getting to know people’s story helps me to create a respectful and heart-warming service that holds special meaning for you and your loved ones.
Very often I am asked to carry out a committal service at the Crematorium or the Cemetery followed by a service to celebrate the life of their loved one at a different venue, one that holds special meaning, such as a football ground, for example.
Using Technology to Say Goodbye
Is there someone who cannot be there because they live too far away or they can’t travel for some reason?… Don’t feel that they have to miss out on their final chance to say goodbye.
The service can be recorded or with access to wifi, I can set up a link over Skype, enabling people to pay their respects and be part of the funeral service for their loved one or friend. Some Crematoriums are able to Podcast.
If you wish to celebrate your loved one by holding the funeral, memorial service or life celebration in a place outside of a Church or Crematorium, I am more than happy to do so.
You may wish the service to be non religious or to include elements of religion, a prayer, reading or hymn, either way your ceremony will be a beautiful and heartwarming tribute.
Making Your Own Arrangements
Talking about death is becoming less of a taboo than it has been and more and more of us are pre arranging our own funeral service, which not only takes the stress and emotional burden from our families but also gives us the opportunity to ‘have the last word’ as it were.
There are so many unique or traditional ways to say goodbye that it often helps to sit down and talk it through with someone who can guide you through the process.
I am happy to meet with you to help you to make your arrangements and discuss how we can work together with your to make your arrangements confidentially, respectfully and with the assurance that your funeral service will be as you would want it to be.
The Natural Death Centre
I am a member and supporter of the Natural Death Centre and as such have committed to the following pledge;
‘As a celebrant who shares the values of the Natural Death Centre Charity, I see my role as supportive rather than directive, and I undertake to offer my services to help each family I work with, to ensure they have the best possible funeral for the person who has died.
I believe that families should be encouraged to do as much as they feel able to in the creating and carrying out of a funeral ceremony, and I will encourage families that I work with to send The Natural Death Centre the story of their funeral so that others can be inspired to be fully involved with creating ceremonies too.’
I am also a supplier member of the National Association of Funeral Directors.

About Celebrant Ceremonies
When creating a service or ceremony of their choice, many people are opting to blend something of their own character and personality with a bit of tradition.
More and more of us want to celebrate those special moments our own way or remember our loved ones in the style that suits them best.
In today’s more secular society, very often we are choosing to blend accents of styles and traditions that we readily identify with with our big occasions in life, which means that when we celebrate a new life, our relationships, rites of passage or the passing of someone that we love, we naturally look to our personal lifestyle choices and the values by which we live whilst still retaining the character and tradition of our heritage.
Traditions that can include elements of religion, spirituality, cultural values and the lineage and history that makes us who we are.

Frequently Asked Questions
We don’t want a pre written script, how can we have a ceremony that is about us?
Oh, there are so many ways… let’s face it, your relationship isn’t like anyone else’s and your ceremony should reflect your love and commitment for each other in ways that suit you.
We will work together to make it all yours, I will guide you through it and in the end the format is up to you, it doesn’t have to be a mass produced re hash, so don’t feel that you have to settle. There is nothing lovelier or more liberating than the freedom to create something beautiful, moving and all yours, so let’s do this!
Is my wedding ceremony with you legally binding?
No. If you wish your marriage to be legally recognised you will need to register your intent to marry at the Registry Office, telling them that you have already booked your celebrant and you just need a simple service to complete your paperwork and declarations.
Book a date that suits you with your local Registry Office, you will need two witnesses on the day. At the Registry Office you have to choose one declaration each from several legal statements, these are not vows, but legally binding words.
To make it easier, think of the legal bit at the Registry Office as your marriage, then the wedding is the more personal celebration of your relationship with me where you can make more personal vows to each other, wherever you choose.
So is the exchanging of rings a legal requirement?
No, you don’t even have to exchange rings if you don’t want to.
I can discuss alternative ideas if you wish.
Do I have to hire a licensed venue?
No. Celebrant led ceremonies can be officiated anywhere, which means that you can choose a venue or place that is special to you, indoor or outdoor, at any time of the year.
Celebrants are also much more flexible around time; I don’t charge extra for evening or weekend weddings.
Does my ceremony have to be in office hours?
No. Celebrants are not restricted by times or working days which means you can celebrate your relationship in a relaxed, informal way with no time constraints. Or, it can be as formal and traditional as you want it to be, the choice really is yours.
I have carried out many afternoon and evening ceremonies as well as day time ones.
Is it expensive to book a Celebrant?
No. My prices compare very favourably to a registrar coming out to your venue, but you get so much more, and the cost won’t change depending on day, time or if it is a bank holiday.
